Social media management made easy!

The Pandemic of Purpose

By: Miracle Sims

As an entrepreneur, Covid-19 and 2020 birthed several things for me because I, like everyone else, was forced to let go of my “normal” life /routines. In 2020, one of my greatest accomplishments was creating “God, Sex, and Love.”

“God, Sex, and Love” was an idea that I had been sitting on for years. Long story short, I was waiting for the right time and the perfect opportunity to do it. I imagined that “God, Sex, and Love” would be a talk show, but I never seemed to have the time or funds to make it happen. Therefore, I would work towards the goal bit by bit, and debate about different ways to execute the idea.

In 2019, my husband suggested that I create a podcast, but I sort of brushed the idea away. At the time, I was thinking that a blog or maybe the original talk show idea would be better. However, In January 2020, I started to see light at the end of the tunnel. I was finally in a place where I was physically able to execute the talk show! However, just when I thought that I was going to see it come together...BOOM, Covid-19!

With all of this new free time and availability, once again the idea of a podcast was brought to my attention. This time, instead of brushing the idea away, I looked into what it would take to make a podcast happen. In my research, I found that it was easier than I expected, even as easy as downloading an app!

The idea was for the "God, Sex, and Love" talk show was to have open and honest conversations among Christians about God, sex, love, and everything in between. However, with the podcast I was also inspired to challenge myself to study God's word every day and to share my experience as a daily dose of inspiration; I call this segment "The Juice".

I didn't know how long I would do this. To be honest, I was thinking a week or few months at the most. To my surprise, I have been doing this challenge every day (except for taking a weekly sabbath and a few random rest days) for over a year now, and I would say that it has not only blessed and inspired others, but it truly has been a blessing to me as well!

"The Juice" is probably the most consistent and fulfilling thing I've ever done in my life thus far and taking intentional time to spend with God every day has been such a blessing in my life. Not only that, but taking this first step of faith led to many other goals and achievements for myself and others!

Over the years I've heard the concept " If you take one step, God will take two." However, I can actively see this happening in my life, time and time again. Months into being consistent with releasing "The Juice" I came across the opportunity to create a weekly talk show! Needless to say, I saw this as another open door so I pulled together the resources I had and created God, Sex, and Love: The Talk Show. Of course, I had to modify my original idea greatly to adhere to the quarantine mandates. But due to the support of friends and the technological advances that we often take for granted, I went from dreaming about having a talk show to hosting an almost daily podcast, and a weekly talk show.

Since then I've met so many amazing people from around the world such as the editing team based in Pakistan that I enlisted through fiverr.com ( Sami and Arsal), and countless other guests from different states, and as far as the UK. I even have consistent listeners such as Euan in Australia who takes the time to comment on my YouTube videos almost every day.

Another goal that I was able to achieve was becoming an author. Those who know me, know that this is something I have been trying to do for a long time. However, I couldn't figure out how to get from Point A ( my idea) to Point B (a published book). During one of my daily posting sessions on social media I came across an advertisement for a virtual workshop hosted by a well-decorated local author, Crystal Swain Bates. I spoke with her briefly a few years ago about publishing a book idea; however, this was as far as things went at the time because I once again did not have the funds to invest in her publishing package. After joining her group and listening to a few of the videos and challenges that she has provided, not only was I encouraged and inspired to reach my publishing goal. I quickly realized that I had everything that I needed to make it happen!

My first published book is a 30-day bible study journal inspired by The Juice! I now have three published books ( two journals and a coloring book), and I am currently working on the book that I spoke with Mrs. Bates about all those years ago! I have even assisted with helping my friends and mother to get their books produced and published. To God be the Glory!

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28

I share all of this to say that at the end of the day God has everything under control! I've seen what God has done in my life and others throughout this "pandemic." He has opened so many doors for me and I am a living witness that not only has He provided my needs but also the majority of my wants as well. All I had to do was trust him, and be faithful in the "small things."

His Lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.

Matthew 25:23

Perhaps you are in the beginning stages, and you don't have the time or resources to do the things that God has put on your heart to do. I find that doing what you can, even if it's a little bit at a time, is better than doing nothing. We also have to remember that God is our source. Once I realized this, I started to see the different ways He has been working in my life. I was someone that would go here and there, and would do this gig and that gig to try to make ends meet all the while putting what God had placed in my heart on hold. However, I truly believe that things happen the way it's supposed to in God's divine timing. So now I try to focus more on that, do what I can, and watch him do the things I can't.

I have no idea how I'm going to adjust back to "normal life," or if that is even an option for me anymore. I'm loving who I have become throughout the pandemic, and for once I finally feel I'm truly operating in my gifts and purpose!
