"Do not be afraid."
As you go about your day, as you sleep at night, God whispers into your ear, spirit, soul and mind, these exact words. These words are not a suggestion, recommendation, or a broken promise. These words, spoken by God Himself, is a command AND a promise. God, our all knowing Father, understands that the task that He gives, and the situations that He allows to be brought upon you can bring forth feelings of fear, which in result, can alter the faith deep within. He fully understands that the tasks placed in pursuit of your purpose can make you feel overwhelmed, unqualified, and highly unfavored. He knows, yet, He still whispers the commands of promises in your ear, in hopes that you trust Him enough to turn your fears into courage.
Mary, the mother of Jesus, was given the second most important task that anyone on this earth has been given; she was given the task of birthing our savior. She was young, poor and
unqualified, yet, God specifically chose her. Because God chose her, that also means that He
qualified and equipped her for the task at hand. Though she was afraid, her obedience covered her fear. Though she was judged for being pregnant outside of the sanctity of marriage, her obedience protected her.
You may be feeling as if the task before you is too great, but God says that His favor is upon
you. You are equipped with everything it is the you need, because the power of God is within you. You may be feeling afraid, but God has given you the gift of courage to build that business, raise those kids, and stand up against a male-dominated world. Be obedient to God’s commands and promises. You are favored.
“The angel went to her and said, 'Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.' But the angel said to her, 'Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.'” -Luke 1:28
